Only virtual machines that are running Windows XP or later can be configured during the conversion process. You cannot configure virtual machines that run operating systems other than Windows

See page 73 of http://www.vmware.com/pdf/convsa_50_guide.pdf

Thanks for the excellent Tool. Converted Windows 7 and Windows 2003 System to VMWare ESXi instances.

One point to note here is that if you are converting from IDE disks, then remember to change the disk from IDE to scsi

Bryan,

When you are talking about such a large amount of data, you will need to plan very well. Re-syncing a very large amount of data is not optimal.
If I understand it well, you can have an application downtime from 5:30 pm to 7am

A few questions:
1. How is your servers disk layout (e.g C: drive = OS, D: drive = program installations, E: drive = data)?
2. What is the size of each disk and how much of each diskspace is used?
3. do you want to resize the disks during the P2V conversion?
4. Are your disk local disks, SAN disks, NAS disks?
5. How many datachanges are there in an average day (in MB)
6. What are your target LUNs: Raw Devices, multiple VMFS LUNs, ...
7. Which ESX version do you run?

I have a production server that is hit from 7am-5pm. It carries 3.7TB of data with it. I have run the PtoV once and made sure the server came up correctly. I now want to know if there is a way to run the PtoV again and sync up the data if the PtoV ends in the middle of the day. So if it finishes conversion at 1pm, I can't swap servers until 5:30pm. So I need to find a way to sync the data from 1-5:30. I know about the sync data on completion option but I will still be left with a few hours of missing data. I had a colleague mention unchecking the option to "reconfigure the vm after completion". It takes a few days to get through the process, so any info you can provide will be much appreciated. Thank you.
